How is everyone doing with the August Photo Hunt?? This is just a gentle reminder that there are about 10 days left to take photos for your entry……… plenty of time to finish (or start!) the list of 20 items.
Finding heart-shaped clouds is very challenging, hopefully someone out there has seen one this month!!
Have you ever heard a story that was so tragic and sad that you felt helpless to do anything about it? Well, what would you do if you had the opportunity to send a little happiness to someone who really needed it, even if that person was a stranger?
I was recently contacted by someone close to me who has been following and supporting our Photo Hunt Challenges since the beginning with the following story:
“One of the families at my daughter’s school recently lost their son (Vincent) to Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer on June 9. He was 7. They had also lost their daughter (Annabella) a few years ago to Leigh’s Disease which is a mitochondrial disorder, she was 6 months old. I have been following their story since hearing about Vincent’s battle. I was hoping that maybe you can include 2 items in the photo hunt challenge – butterflies and heart shaped clouds in their remembrance.
The reason being, after Annabella passed away, they started seeing butterflies everywhere. They constantly had butterflies at their door and around them when they were out and about. The family said that Annabella was sending them butterflies to let them know that she was there and Vincent loved that. Before Vincent passed, his mother asked him what things he would send when he went to heaven and Vincent said, heart shaped clouds. At the time, his mother couldn’t remember ever seeing a heart shaped cloud, and after he passed away, she was sitting with their daughter, Sofi, and was telling her that Vincent went to heaven, and Sofi looked out the window and saw a heart shaped cloud. Since then, she sees them pretty regularly.”
So get your cameras ready and please be on the lookout for butterflies and heart-shaped clouds during the month of August! We will be sending a link of all the photos from these categories to the family of these two little angels who were taken way too young….

I am looking for two additional Guest Judges to help choose favorites for the June 2010 Photo Hunt. Samara and I will be the other two judges.
Requirements:

Starting today, the Guest Judges and I will start posting our favorites from April 2010 Photo Hunt Challenge. The idea just came to me that I should intorduce the Guest Judges. I feel bad that I didn’t do that with Ang and Carly, my Guest Judges from the Feb Photo Hunt.
Anyway, these are the Guest Judges for Ph#7 April 2010, ladies who definitely inspire me and many others with their photography! I wanted to link to their Entries from Past Photo Hunts and GUESS WHAT??!! Since I didn’t pay Mr Linky for another year subscription, I can no longer see any of the links to past photo hunts. That. is. totally. lame!!!

Just a couple of days until Participants can start linking their entry for April’s Photo Hunt Challenge. Once again I will be using a few Guest Judges to help choose Favorites.
I have a request for those of you who are participating…..
If possible, I would love it if everyone would rename their photos in this format:
YourName- Category.jpg
For example: Kristi-SomethingMusical.jpg
This ensures that your name is correctly displayed the way you want it and also identifies which category that photo belongs to. Not to mention it saves the judges time when we go through the entries and pull them from your blogs!
If you have already uploaded all your photos and this seems like too much work to go back and redo it, no worries. For everyone else, this small request is a big time-saver!

It is preferred that you take your photos between today (April 1st) and April 30, 2010. If for some reason you are stuck on the 30th without a few of the items on your list, then you may use a maximum of two photos from your archives, as long as they were taken less than one year ago. You ARE allowed (and encouraged!) to use Photoshop or other photo-editing software as you’d like (it often adds to the artistic quality of the photo).
It is up to you whether you post your photos on your blog as you go, or wait until April 30th to unveil them and make it a surprise. One thing I ask is that everyone who participates posts all 20 photos in one single post on their blogs or in a set in an online gallery on May 1st.
A new post will go up here at photohuntchallenges.com on May 1st. I will be using the Mr. Linky auto-link widget. Anyone who completes Photo Hunt #7~ April 2010 will need to add their name & the URL permalink of where their Photo Hunt photos are posted. Everyone who adds their name to the auto-link will have their photos considered for my Favorites. Once again I will be using Guest Judges to help me choose the Favorites. After we go through all of the participants’ entries, we will post our favorite photos for each of the 2o items on the list in a separate blog post with a poll for each. Please note that we will not include archived photos in the Favorites (it hardly seems fair!) Anyone who votes is encouraged to vote based on their favorite photo, not just for a particular photographer. Voting is also open to anyone and everyone. The posts are created as time allows throughout the month, and the polls are open until the end of May. After all polls are closed I will compile the photos of all the winners and will display them here on the photohuntchallenges.com blog.

Lately I have been a bit obsessed with Flickr (I blogged all about it yesterday on my personal blog).
So many possiblities!!
I know that pretty much everyone who reads this blog enjoys photography, so I wanted to encourage all of you to create a Flickr Acct (Yahoo) and upload your photos there too. It is a HUGE community and has some amazing photography. Fun way to comment on photos and receive comments on your photos as well.

I have a love/hate relationship with chocolate. When I was a child I LOVED chocolate, and soon found out that I was allergic to it. At about the age of 9 my mouth would water when my family ate chocolate in-front of me. Eventually I associated the smell of chocolate with the negative effects and was OK with others eating it around me. This story does have a happy ending, because in the past few years I have been able to eat little bits of chocolate again! Oh, now on to the important part, the voting! – Carly

We have several new participants for Photo Hunt #6 who are new to the rules so I wanted to remind all participants that ONLY PHOTOS TAKEN DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2010 ARE CONSIDERED FOR FAVORITES. If you included any photos from your archives ( two maximum are allowed), you must state that when you post the photo!!!
